PS1 crew keeps its cool during record heat in Deadhorse

Everyone knows that working on TAPS is the coolest, but that was literally put to the test in the most unlikely places on August 6 when record heat descended on Deadhorse and Pump Station 1. From the National Weather Service, Fairbanks: “An all-time record high was shattered in Deadhorse. … Strong Chinooking occurring up on the Eastern Arctic coast and continue to get warmer. Deadhorse Airport has set an all-time record high at 89 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 85 set in July 2016.” Things got warm and wild at PS9, too, as Delta Junction hit an all-time record Maximum-Minimum Temperature of 71 degrees! Stay hydrated and safe everyone!
