2025 Atigun Awards spotlight: Grainne Bonestroo, Silent Runner of the Year
Grainne Bonestroo, Alyeska’s Commercial Vehicle Lead, takes on critical assignments that have streamlined and organized several regulatory-driven programs. She is responsible for organizing the changing regulations for the Commercial Motor Vehicle program and worked with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Operations, contractors and others to bring a collective understanding. Most recently, she was requested to support an initiative regarding Alyeska’s OQIS software application. Over several months, the team determined a corrective action plan that was implemented for all application users on TAPS. Grainne is a go-to for guidance on an assortment of topics and offers steadfast support to her team and others linewide.
In this Q&A, Grainne explained how she loves the continued opportunity to learn and help others in her work, and how her teammates help boost her, as well.
How did you feel when you heard you won this award?
Cyber Security is really doing a great job with teaching TAPS to be cautious, because I thought that there is no way the President is calling me directly. I assumed I was being spammed by AI and almost didn’t return the call, but I am glad I did.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is working alongside so many knowledgeable individuals who are always willing to teach and share their experiences. It’s incredibly rewarding to learn from others and be part of an environment where teamwork and growth are constantly encouraged.
Do you have a favorite day on TAPS? Tell us about it!
My favorite day on TAPS was the first day I started in the Fleet department. I was so excited to work in the same department my dad spent so many of his years working as a mechanic and continue his legacy on TAPS.
Is there anyone you’d like to recognize who has helped you along the way or supports your work?
I’m incredibly grateful for the support of my teammates. Their guidance, encouragement, and willingness to share their expertise has been invaluable to helping me navigate challenges. One of the aspects I enjoy most with this role, is the opportunity to interact and work side by side with so many departments. I would not have been successful without the collaboration and teamwork from O&M, EMPR, OHU, HR, Training, IT, Contracts and Procurement, Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Documentation, and our Contractors. In short, we never go it alone and only win together.
